Candied Yam Thanksgiving

Posted by Brenna Malmberg

Cole's good-looking candied yams.

The apartment missed the drifting aroma of turkey in the oven or pumpkin pie cooling on the counter. But Cole did whip up a favorite of his: Candied yams.

Before Thanksgiving, we knew the ingredients, but not the process to Cole's tasty dish. After a few calls home to consult the experts, Cole made some candied yams that he claims taste just as good as his mom's and grandma's. Thanks to Chef Cole, you can make the same tasty dish at home.

Ingredients:

• Sweet potatoes

• Butter/margarine

• Brown sugar

• Marshmallows

Directions:

1. Boil potatoes with skins until the potato is soft.

2. Strain potatoes.

3. Peel skin from potatoes.

4. Cut potato into 1/2- to 1-inch cubes.

5. Put potatoes in baking dish.

6. Put a few dollops of butter/margarine in dish and sprinkle brown sugar over the top.

7. Heat oven to 350 degrees.

8. Cook potato mix for 30 minutes.

9. Stir halfway through.

10. With five minutes left, cover the top with marshmallows.

As you see, exact measurements aren't needed. Ours turned out all right. Best of luck on your candied dish.

I enjoyed the tasty mash potatoes.

I'm still sad you didn't try my tasty yams :( I suppose there's always next year.
