Family Journeys East

Family at airport

Dad, mom and Skye visit Cole and I in Charlottesville.

Look who came to visit Cole and I in Charlottesville! My parents and grandparents chugged in via Amtrak from Holdrege, Neb. Then two days later, my brother, Skye landed in Charlottesville without his luggage after an interesting series of flights. Let's just say that at one point they had to turn around because of a fire in the engine.

During their week of adventures, I had to work most of the time, but they ventured out on their own to see the sights. They came during Historic Garden Week. They saw some local, private homes, along with Jefferson's, Monroe's and Madison's estates.

Then after all the garden fun, I took two days off and traveled to D.C. with them. Lots of walking, tours, museums and metro rides commenced.

They had a good time, but I will let the pictures speak for themselves. I will spare you all the 507 images my father took on my other camera. But if that interests you, find him on Facebook. I helped him uploads the gobs of images.

Me sad

Sad me because no one would take a photo with me. Notice the lack of group shots.

Slick Tesla we got to check out on our way to dinner. My dad just started chatting with him, and we got to look inside and see the frunk (front trunk).

Cheese fries

My yummy cheese fries from Union Station.

Post Office Museum Owney

Grammie and I walked over to the Post Office Museum and saw Owney the dog's medals.

Facelift dentures

Grammie found an ad down at the metro she liked.

Skye and me

Skye left first by plane. Must-have photo with your sister before you leave.

Family at Amtrak station

Later that day, everyone else boarded the Amtrak train home.

Grandpa boards train

Grandpa boards the train. They did wave at our apartment as they went by, even though we weren't home yet.

Thanks for visiting, everyone! It was great to have you hear to see where we live and what we do. Glad you made it back home safely.

Mom

We did enjoy the train ride, a stop in Chicago, on to Charlottesville and lots of walking, tours, eating, visiting, off to DC for more tours, eating, visiting, and lots and lots of walking, but well worth it! We have already decided we must visit again. Sorry we did not see much of Cole but know he is very busy studing, and getting ready for finials....Good Luck!
