Lots of Lasts

Posted by Brenna Long

The last few weeks have been full of lasts: my last day of class, my last day of coaching gymnastics, my last meal at the dining hall, my last day at Mother Earth news and my last final.

All these lasts mean I will leave Lawrence soon to start a new adventure. My adventure starts this weekend with graduation. After four years in Lawrence, I have grown to love the place. It has an eco-friendly, friendly vibe that I will miss. And honestly, all the conveniences, such as Wal-Mart and Culver’s, are welcome after I have spent time back at home in rural Kansas.

But as I walk down the hill on Sunday and leave Lawrence that night, I won’t be wanting to come back. I cherish all the memories I made here, but I have completed what I came here to do and life has others things in store for me.

For the next year, I will be living in Lincoln, Neb., learning all about what the capital has to offer. Still looking for a job at the moment, but I know God has a plan for me there. I guess that is why I can move on in life and not be sad about leaving. I know God always has me where he wants me, and I am okay with that fact. It makes me happy and peaceful to know that I am always where God wants me even if I am not sure where I exactly am in life. Good thing God is a lot smarter and a better planner than I am. Phew.

I promise to keep people updated on my status as far as jobs and life. I should have more time to write and research stories for my Web site, as well.

So this isn’t my last blog, but it might be my last blog from Lawrence. That’s another last I need to add to my list.
