Tech Wallpaper: Fast & Furious May

Posted by Brenna Malmberg

Download "perfectin' my passion, thanks for askin'" desktop background here.

Can you believe it's already May!?! Well, to help you usher in this spring month, I have a handful of desktop background that you can download for free. I have been inspired by the most recent Fast & Furious movie: Furious 7. After seeing it in the theaters, which I recommend, we decided to buy the soundtrack. It's a fun one, and I turned to my watercolor to create so Fast & Furious art. I have six different backgrounds here for you to download, and then, at the bottom, I have two made into phone backgrounds as well, so lots of options. . . .

Photo Friday: Battle of Antietam

Posted by Brenna Malmberg

This past weekend, we drove up to Maryland to visit Antietam.

You are never going to guess. We visited another battlefield! This time, we headed north to Maryland to visit the scene of America's bloodiest one-day battle: Antietam.

We timed this adventure so that we scored another free National Park Weekend (we went to Yorktown during Presidents Day weekend). Lots of people also had the same idea, so we went from sight to sight and saw familiar faces. The tour even started with a talk from a Parks person, which rarely happens. Usually it's an ooooold movie. After the chat, we drove the self-guided tour in trusty Mithy (aka Mithrandir). . . .

Swirly Gel Pen Envelope Art

Gel pens look so cool on dark paper.

You might have seen my Design Roots contest envelope the other day, and are now thinking this envelope looks similar. That's because it is. I first tested my white gel pens on these red envelopes for my Grammie. I test a lot of envelope designs on her because I know she will enjoy all of them. These are some other examples: . . .

Sports Update: Fantasy Basketball and NCAA Gymnastics

I may have scored the most points in the playoffs, but when you are in the consolation bracket, it doesn't matter. Sad day.

I am not going to spend much time on the 2014-2015 Fantasy Basketball conclusion because, well, it's disheartening. My team swung up and down all season thanks to injuries and inexperience. But, in the end, we put up big numbers. Number so big in fact that we blew everyone out of game during the last round of the playoffs. Sadly, I had already dropped into the consolation bracket by that point, so I was only completely for third. Another year, another third place accomplishment. That seems to be my place. Maybe next year?!? Anyways, we did have a new winner this year. Cole, not Jay, too home first. So, go, Cole! . . .

Design Roots Snail Mail Contest

Posted by Brenna Malmberg

Leafy swirls among the bright green grass blades.

Yesterday I dropped this little silver envelope into the mailbox. It along with handfuls of other creative envelopes from around the world are headed to Design Roots headquarters in Texas for Design Roots' second annual mail swap and envelope contest. Honestly, I don't even need a contest to make fun, creative mail, but I couldn't help but send in an entry. . . .
