Team Spirit Halloween Pumpkins

Posted by Brenna Malmberg

Cole is ready to carve with his huge pumpkin, UVA stencil and Disney princess carving tools.

While the hurricane was starting to blow outside, we carved pumpkins on Monday. These pumpkins were huge! We picked some great ones at the pumpkin patch. Missed that fun event? Check out Fall: Orchard, Pumpkins, Leaves.

While getting the pumpkins was great fun, finding carving tools was not. Either people don't carve pumpkins in Virginia, or they think the little carving knives are too dangerous. We tried about five different stores, including Wal-Mart (yes, Wal-Mart didn't have something). Finally, the Halloween store in the mall had a nice Disney princess set.

While Cole was carving his pumpkin, I set to work figuring out my stencil. I made my own to celebrate the Bikini Bottom Nash Potatoes, my fantasy basketball team.

Now they are outside and lit for the world to see. Not sure how many people can see them, but to them...Happy Halloween!

Cole pokes dots in his pumpkin so he can carve along them.

He made the UVA symbol.

Better poking posture.

Out come the guts.

Eww.

Now time to carve.

My pumpkin: Go team!

Candles lit and pumpkins glowing.

Happy Halloween!

Mom

Very nice! No we did not carve any pumpkins or have any tricker treaters! Maybe next year as I did buy some stencils for dad and some rub on glow in the dark for myself.
