After watching that video and reading an article on NPR, I thought about how important words are. Almost every day my job or hobbies include words. According to Oxford Dictionary, a quarter of a million distint English words exist. That is a lot of words to pick from each time I write a story, blog, caption or blurb.
Like in the video, I want to find the right words that make people think and make a difference. At my most recent job edition, I am writing newsletters for nonprofits. That means I am one of the tools the nonprofit is using to connect with their supporters.
If you have any word thoughts, or just something fun to share, feel free to comment below. And the new box where you enter your e-mail is an addition to help keep away junk. So don't let it scare you!
So after my bout of rambling, here is another, much more famous writer, who understands the importance of works, as well.
"The difference between the almost right word & the right word is really a large matter--it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning. - Mark Twain
