As many of you know, I interned with Mother Earth News magazine in Topeka, Kan., while I was in college. Luckily, I popped into the office to help on Fridays. The day of fun. (But really, most days at Mother Earth News are fun.) Plus, I learned a ton of knowledge from my co-workers, including how to score triple words at Scategories.

While I was working there, I was also in a class that required me to work on my writing and type for 10 minutes each night. I actually came up with some fun stories in that short time span. . . .

I grew up on the Street, the Sesame Street, but I am not so sure I learned my compassion for humans or recycling knowledge from the cast of puppets. Sure, I learned how to count with the Count, but I just always thought Oscar was the mean, green guy in a can. I don't think I learned anything about changing the environment from the negative Nancy who lived in the can. . . .

Tonight all the little girls lined up at the water fountain at gymnastics and gulped up as much water as they could every time we took a break. If I was to ask them where that water comes from, I would get all kinds of answers. A few would probably tell me it just comes from the water fountain. A few bright tumblers might give me river or lake, and they would be closer to right.

Lincoln, Neb., where I live, are able to use riverbank filtration to not only get its water, but clean it as well. This water is defined as safe water. . . .

Sparks definitely flew as Taylor Swift took the stage on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. And luckily, I as there. (Fun fact: She was the first female to headline at Arrowhead.)

Even if you aren't a super fan of her music, you have to give her credit for her perfomance. Many artists stand and sing and do their thing. Not Taylor. She skipped around and brought the drama of each song to life. Plus, her stage consisted of a complete setting and a cast of dancers, singers and musicians. From the pit where Cole and I stood, (yes we had pit tickets), we could see the whole performance up close. . . .
